Almond Crumb Cherry Pie


  • 1 ounce sugar
  • ½ ounce of corn flour
  • 4 cups of fresh pitted cherries
  • 6 ounces of butter, cut into ½ inch cubes
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 ounces of brown sugar
  • 2 ounces of almonds, ground blanched
  • 1 orange – fresh juice of one orange


  1. Well butter a 1 liter baking dish and preheat the oven to 400 degrees °F.
  2. In a sauce pan – add sugar and corn flour. Add cherries and mix to coat with the sugar – corn flour mixture. Start cooking cherries over low heat until softened. Add sugar and orange juice while stirring occasionally until the mixture thickens. Pour into the baking dish.
  3. In a bowl – sift flour, add butter, and rub with your fingertips to blend. Add brown sugar and the ground blanched almonds.
  4. Spoon the crumb mixture evenly over the top. Bake for 20-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and crunchy. Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes.

Romama’s Note: You can serve the Almond Crumb Cherry Pie warm or cold with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top for additional taste!
